The 4 SharePoint Nevers

The following are four items to never take for granted when working with SharePoint:

1) Never assume – anything about the SharePoint project being worked on, almost always think the opposite

2) Never believe the SharePoint project manager – knows what is going on – make sure one sets milestones, tasks, stakeholders, scope requirements and all minor details with a project manager.

3) Never believe that management is up to speed with the details in regard to how the SharePoint technology being used in a said project works.

4) Never let business people make key technical SharePoint decisions

Task Board of SharePoint Work

Having a task board of SharePoint items in a strategic set of buckets is useful to utilize be it via paper based or electronic format:
Example:
Backlog
To-Do
In-Progress
Testing
Done

The buckets can be described as such as stories will move through the defined steps:
Backlog – product backlog items – first placed in this bucket
To-Do – as stories are placed in sprints, they are placed in this bucket
In-Progress – as stories are started they are placed in this bucket
Testing – stories are placed here when they are being tested
Done – stories placed in this bucket are completed
