- 2001: Official launch of SharePoint Portal Server 2001, marking the beginning of SharePoint as a web-based collaborative platform.
- Acquisitions and Product/Service Spinoffs: SharePoint growth has included various versions, acquisitions, and spinoffs, including the integration of Site Server & Site Server Commerce Edition between 1997-1999, and later the incorporation of technologies from the FAST acquisition, which enhanced Microsoft’s search capabilities.
